On average the program completes 2000 hours of community service per school year. Students volunteer at a variety of agencies and are exposed to a wide arrange of life circumstances, teaching empathy and respect. Community service is a vital part of the education at Valley Collaborative. Our students are taught from their first day on site that their actions and behaviors affect not just themselves, but those around them. Through community service they come to find that their positive behaviors can have just as important and as impact-full effect on their community as their negative behaviors. While local organizations benefit from the volunteer work done by our students, our young men and women gain confidence and increase self-esteem as they see their efforts positively impact others around them.
