School-to-Work (STW) is an initiative that builds collaborations among educators, businesses and the community to help students attain the knowledge and experience necessary for employment.

The School-to-Work Internship program was established to present students with independent community-based vocational experiences utilizing built-in natural supports. Student schedules are flexible, with a range of 3-6 hours per day, 2-5 days per week. Through on the job training, students develop specialized trade skills and independent life management skills.

Combining academics with experience in today’s workplace brings a new relevance to learning by allowing students to better understand the connection between educational  choices and future career opportunities.

Through School-to-Work, students :
  • Improve problem solving and critical thinking abilities
  • Improve academic performance
  • Develop acceptable work habits and show increased “job readiness”
  • Improve communication and social skills
  • Improve technical skills
  • Develop leadership skills
  • Develop teamwork skills
