Life Skills at the Middle School

Within the Life Skills Program at the Middle School, the focus is on teaching the basic life skills needed to complete functional activities of daily living, remain safe, and access the community.  During weekly groups, the students have the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of activities including: developing schedules, using and following maps, practicing functional money skills, developing nutritional menus, working with their peers to complete group tasks, and accessing different forms of technology, all of which help to develop their functional life skills.  Many of the middle school students also have the opportunity to practice these skills while traveling to different locations within the community, which has included a local coffee shop, the grocery store, and the mall.
