• Music Programming

At Valley Collaborative, students in the Middle and High School Alternative and Transitional programs learn various aspects of music which include songwriting as a collaborative exercise, instrument instruction using a broad range of musical instruments (percussion, strings and winds), voice training, music listening, discussion and analysis (form, stylistic differences), aspects of music theory and history, music for film and media. Valley Collaborative High School students gain experience with music consistent with Massachusetts education standard.

In addition to traditional music instruction the music program is also focused on offering students skills that will help them in their future endeavors. Some of these include the use of technology and computer-based music production, audio editing and manipulation, notions of acoustics and the physics of sound as well as technical aspects of audio hardware installation and operation, signal flow, audio recording and engineering.
